SUPPORT MY CHALLENGE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR GUIDE DOGS

Hi! My name is Ellie, and this is my 7th year participating in the PAWGUST challenge to raise funds for Guide Dogs.

Rain, hail or shine, this August, I will be out and about on adventures with Spud and Sadie drumming up support to raise much needed funds.

Did you know it costs in excess of $50,000 to breed, raise and train just ONE Guide Dog!?

I’d like to see the day where everyone who needs a Guide Dog has a Guide Dog. Your donation helps me get one step closer to making that dream happen.

My Updates

Why do I do it?

You may be wondering why I choose to do this fundraiser every year... the answer to this starts back when I was in high school and I started to think that I wanted to work with people who live with a disability. This passion became apparent when I studied my Cert IV in Education Support and learnt about supporting children with disability's. When I left school I went on to work at an employment agency helping those with disability's get into the workforce. During this role I really got to see the impact that blindness in particular has on someone's life and their opportunity to live an independent life. Guide Dogs provide someone with low vision or blindness the opportunity to live an independent life - something that many of us take so for granted.

I started participating in this fundraiser to try and make an impact on these peoples lives, to give them an opportunity to experience what I have, and take for granted, all to often myself.
