The Pulling Pooch
This pooch would rather take you for a walk. They want to be the leader, and while it’s helpful when you’re struggling up steep hills, it can be tiresome walking a pooch that constantly pulls. It’s an added work-out.
What to do:
Teach your pooch that forward movement is only allowed when there is no tension on the lead. To do this, you can stop every time they pull, change direction, and walk in the opposite direction for a short period of time. Always remember to reward your pooch for nice, relaxed leash walking.
Sign-up to PAWGUST and start your training by walking or running with your dog every day in August. The funds will help breed and train Guide Dogs who will provide vital support services for people with vision loss.
