LEND A PAW TO A REAL LIFE PUP HERO
Iris is a Facility Dog at Wirreanda Secondary School in South Australia and specifically works in the alternative pathways program, ‘WAVE! Wirreanda Adaptive Vocational Education’.
Facility Dogs, like Iris, are trained to work with people to help them in their day to day tasks and to encourage learning. Iris helps students with emotional and social development and physical wellbeing. It takes a very special dog to become a Facility Dog. It is a challenging career but a very rewarding one too.
Iris is a social butterfly, a quick learner, nurturing and
adaptable which is why this role is perfect for her. Her resilient nature and her
ability to remain calm in very busy situations makes her a PAWfect fit for a
school environment. Iris also loves kids, playing and cuddles!
